Creating a GAE Presence in the Community

Through public and media relations, GAE works to educate our communities, both local and statewide, on the issues that impact the teaching profession, our children and how vital our system of public education is to our well-being.  By contacting and building relationships with Georgia media we ensure that the views and opinions expressed by you and GAE state and local leadership are heard and understood.  Through press releases, media alerts, press conferences and the annual GAE media tour – where GAE leadership travels the state to talk about the issues most important to our membership -- the viewpoints of those on the frontline are clearly communicated.

Programs that connect GAE to Georgia’s communities also are vital to our public relations effort.  The Atlanta Daily World/GAE State Spelling Bee is just such an effort.  For 44 years the Spelling Bee has bee symbol of excellence and cooperation between our members and their communities.  That bond continues to grow year after year.  Other programs that help us connect with the public are American Education Week, National Teacher Day and NEA’s Read Across America.
