(Founded on May 9, 1970 as the result of a merger between the 100-year old Georgia
Education Association (GEA) and the 90-year old Georgia Teachers and Education
Association (GT&EA), the Georgia Association of Educators has represented the
interests of Georgia educators with the Georgia General Assembly for over 125 years.
With the beginning of GAE in 1970 came the beginning of the compilation of the
Association’s Legislative Accomplishments for public education and public school
employees.  While the list does not include the many accomplishments of the former
GEA and GT&EA, it is a living history of achievements enjoyed by all public school
employees thanks to Advocating Excellence in Public Education by GAE members.)
